Originally founded in 1950 as a school in Joliet for children with developmental disabilities, today Trinity Services is a 67-year-old nonsectarian, nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children and adults with developmental disabilities and mental illness flourish and live full and abundant lives.
Headquartered in New Lenox, Trinity serves more than 3,500 people in 31 communities in Will, Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Peoria, Jackson, Madison and St. Clair counties, and Reno, Nevada. For people with developmental disabilities, services include residential options, family support and respite, a school, several adult learning programs, a supported employment program, a therapeutic horseback-riding program, and crisis prevention and intervention services.
Trinity’s Behavioral Health program provides extensive services and supports to adults who have been diagnosed with mental illness, as well as to youth and adults who have been dually diagnosed with a mental illness and a developmental disability. Additional services within the Behavioral Health division include residential programs, employment services, supports for people diagnosed with autism and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, and traditional counseling for individuals, families and groups.
Trinity’s commitment to ongoing quality improvement is captured in the adoption of its Everything Counts philosophy that every action, every thought, and every experience is meaningful. This philosophy provides the organization direction and focuses attention on the important dynamics of Trinity’s performance.
