Frankfort Chamber First Quarter Update
By Board President, Harry D’Ercole (Enrico’s Italian Dining)

2019 began with our Annual Meeting which included a State of the Village Report from Mayor Jim Holland, and the swearing in of our 2019 Chamber Board members: Bert Behnke, (Behnke Photography); Dean Vaundry, (CD & ME); Gary Gnade, (Gnade Insurance Group); Brett Schaibley, (Edward Jones); Rich Rappold, (Law Office of Richard W. Rappold); Chris Bell, (Side Six); Glenn Laaspere, (Olivieri Brothers, Inc).; Laura Vroom, (Camp Manitoqua & Retreat Center); Chris Herder, (Herder Bros, Inc.); Tom Van Dellen, (Prudential Insurance Company of America) and; Julie Cantrell, (Cantrell Property Group).

Our Meet, Greet and Network continues to be a favorite networking event with our members, with more than 200 attendees in our first quarter, thanks to the efforts of our MGN Committee and Chair, Brett Schaibley, (Edward Jones).

Our Events Committee kicked off the first of two fun and successful first quarter events with our Chili Cook Off on 2/2/19! Committee Chair, Peggy Alexa, (The Alexa Group of Re/MAX Synergy) brought together 18 contestants and approximately 300 eager guests for a festive afternoon of delicious taste treats. Congratulations to our winners: 1st Place Professional - Corey Hageman (Dancing Marlin); 1st Place Amateur – Joseph Kosteck (Law Office of Joseph M. Kosteck, Ltd.) and; 2nd Place Amateur – Kent & Debby Sieb. Many thanks to our judges for lending their expertise: Jason McAllister (Paragon Tech); Dr. Chris Schumann (New Horizons Family Chiropractic) and; Frank Toland (LincolnWay Community Bank).

Our Frankfort Area Women’s Night (FAWN), was a huge hit with the ladies providing a fun night out at CD & ME, listening to the sounds of DJ Keith Wallace (Lincolnway Special Recreation Association) while appreciating the men of the Chamber serving as waiters throughout the evening! Under the leadership of Dana Anderson (The Frankfort Station) and Kris Pasquini (Frankfort Chamber of Commerce) our Events Committee was able to donate $3000.00 to Sojourn Therapeutic Riding Center with profits raised at FAWN, to support the wonderful work of Executive Director, Barbara Mulry, and her devoted staff and volunteers at Sojourn.

Frankfort Chamber Community Showcase celebrated its 35th year of spotlighting local businesses, welcoming approximately 2000 guests at Lincoln-Way East High School on 3/16/19. Thank you to Brett Schaibley (Edward Jones) for serving as Chair for this group that hosted 100 businesses for this informative and fun family event.

2019 welcomed in two new Chairs for our Frankfort Historic Business Alliance (FHBA): Corey Weaver (My Sister’s And Me Boutique) and Kristin Schoon (Lil Surprises). Thank you, ladies for taking on these leadership positions! Special thanks to Nancy Cartolano (This & That Gifts) and Natalie Kmiec-Doyle (LaVie Vintage) for their prior years of service in these roles.

On the IT side, we are currently in the process of updating our Chamber website to make it more user friendly for our daily visitors. Stay tuned for updates to our Fall Festival page!

Speaking of Fall Festival, this year marks our 51st annual Frankfort Fest! We are very excited about our Starfest – It’s Out of this World! theme and the creative ideas our Fall Festival Chair, Julie Cantrell (Cantrell Property Group) and Co-Chair, John Clavio (Clavio, Van Ordstrand & Associates) are bringing to the table! Our artisan pool was expanded this year through the introduction of ZAPP, an online application process familiar to artisans across the country. In addition, we look forward to another year of great entertainment on Breidert Green Stage and in The Garden, as well as some great new entries into our Fall Festival parade!

Congratulations to
TCC Verizon, who hosted their Ribbon Cutting ceremony on 2/19/19, and Trouvaille Med Spa and the Cancer Support Center, who hosted their Business After Hours in our First Quarter!

We will keep you posted on our continued progress. Let your Board know how we can help you and the Chamber!
